About Tales from the Loony Bin

I was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder in 2012 at the age of 44.  It’s been difficult to cope with because I’m not only dealing with it presently, but I am looking back on many incidents in my life with a new perspective.  My entire life previous to my diagnosis wasn’t what I thought it was and I’m still making sense of it all.

This blog is about my experiences living and coping with bipolar disorder and also debunking a few of the myths surrounding mental illness.  I also hope raise awareness of mental illness and break the stigma so often attached to it.

The title of the blog comes from the three weeks I spent in a partial hospitalization program at a psychiatric hospital and it also reflects my warped sense of humor.

I hope you find Tales from the Loony Bin both informative and entertaining.  New entries are posted once a week on Monday.  If you like what you read, please comment, share, and follow.

Thank you for stopping by, I appreciate it very much.
